Our Turnagain Arm Full-Day Tour is an easygoing journey along one of the world's most picturesque highways. It’s designed for those who prefer breathtaking scenery and wildlife encounters over long, steep mountain hikes. This trip offers many photo opportunities, so bring a camera and get ready to capture some of Alaska’s must-do experiences, all in one day!

❋ Portage Glacier Cruise

This one hour boat ride will take you through icy waters surrounded by steep peaks and dozens of waterfalls before bringing you to the face of Portage Glacier.

❋ Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

Alaska’s most visited attraction offers near-guaranteed sightings of brown and black bears, moose, wood bison, muskox, reindeer, elk, and more!

❋ Alyeska Aerial Tram

Effortlessly climb 2,300 feet and soak in panoramic views of the Chugach Mountains and the Turnagain Arm below. Take a short walk on mountain tops, capture stunning photos, or enjoy a drink on the outdoor viewing platform.

❋ Small Group Experience

Our small-group format ensures a comfortable, personalized connection with nature and your local guide. Group size is limited to 9 guests.

Please note that although light snacks are provided, lunch is not included on this full-day tour. There will be opportunities to purchase lunch fare at either the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center or Alyeska Tram, or you are welcome to pack your own lunch.

  • You will be contacted 1-2 days prior to your trip to arrange a pick-up time at your hotel.

  • Sit back and enjoy the views on this drive along the scenic Turnagain Arm to Portage.

  • This one hour boat ride on Portage Lake will take you to the face of Portage Glacier.

  • Your guide will provide a driving tour through the park before allowing you to walk around and explore the animals at your own pace.

  • Arrive at the top of Mt. Alyeska via the aerial tram and take in the Turnagain Arm from above on the viewing deck.

  • Return to Anchorage along the Turnagain Arm with stops along the way for photo opportunities.

  • Your guide will drop you back at your hotel or is happy to recommend and drop you off at a local dinner spot.

Meet Your Guide

Hi, I’m Billy! I moved to Alaska in 2014 to volunteer at the Eagle River Nature Center for the summer, and I’ve called Anchorage home ever since. Many years of guiding and playing in Alaska’s outdoors continues to deepen my love and connection to nature.
